Seed time and Harvest

Seedtime always precedes the harvest

In Genesis 8:22 (KJV) God’s word says,“While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease”.

This concept is God’s and it’s amazing how people think they can take it and change it and expect to succeed. It’s ludicrous to say the least.

The practice of sowing and reaping is a law that God has established for mankind to reap the benefits of nature. However, we don’t always realise that this law although natural is spiritual also.

In Hebrews 11:3 we read: “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.”  People often say, “You reap what you sow”, but it’s not an empty saying, it’s biblical fact, believe it!

What are you sowing or plan to sow in 2019? Or, if like many you have great expectations for 2019, how did you sow in 2018 in terms of your time and resources?

Those who sow are those who reap

Were you generous with your time and resources? Did you give as and when led by God’s spirit? “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God” Romans 8:14 (KJV).

Or were you stingy thinking only in terms of, “What’s in it for me?”

“But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully” 2 Corinthians 9:6 (KJV).

Seedtime and Harvest

We can only expect the blessings of God to overflow in our lives where we have been obedient to his word. It’s the obedience to his word that brings the promises and gives us hope in the new year and throughout the year of an expectation of blessings (corresponding blessings).

So, if you have been expecting something for nothing, just know God doesn’t work like that. He cannot go against his word and neither can you. The good news is, it’s not too late to repent from any wrong attitude of withholding so that you can benefit from God’s promises. “There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty” Proverbs 11:24 (KJV).

Still unconvinced and relying on God’s grace? Well, let God himself answer that one, read Malachi 3: 6-12. It tells how God’s people placed themselves under bondage due to disobedience, but God has shown how anyone who has done this can free themselves.

Our prayer is for all God’s people who planted last year to reap this year and all who sow bountifully will reap bountifully also. You cannot beat God in giving.
