When We Please God

Did You Know God Credits?

Abram believed the LORD, and it was credited to him as righteousness” Genesis 15: 6 (ISV).

In the King James Bible version it tells us, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him (Hebrews 11:6). The currency is faith and Hebrews 11 explains it clearly.

Faith Is Evidence

Faith is the evidence that you and I trust God and believe him implicitly. It shows that we are not reliant on our own abilities or resources, but rely completely on his.

Anyone who has faith in God does not require a backup plan. A backup plan is something we have when we are relying on ourselves or others, but not when we completely rely on God.

God is sovereign according to 1 Chronicles 29:11-12 HCSB
Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the splendor and the majesty, for everything in the heavens and on earth belongs to You. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom, and You are exalted as head over all. 12 Riches and honor come from You, and You are the ruler of everything. Power and might are in Your hand, and it is in Your hand to make great and to give strength to all”. Also, God is a promise keeper, the bible tells us that he keeps all his promises, see 2 Corinthians 1:20.

How to please God

When a Christian believes God is who he says he is and will do what he says he will do, s(he) will act like it and it’s this action that honours God and brings him significant pleasure. Conversely, the opposite is the case where someone doubts God and does not believe he is or a rewarder of those who diligently seek him – (Hebrews 11:6).

So, this would mean your actions aligning with your faith gives God pleasure. After all, if people love authenticity and despise anything fake, how much more God almighty?

It’s amazing how so much like God we are when it comes to being appreciated and valued, we love it when we are recognised and trusted (even when we fail) don’t you think the unfailing, unchangeable and sovereign God deserves anything less than our full trust and confidence?

In our church we adopt an attitude of gratitude and use the first Sunday of the month as our testimony service to give God glory and honour. There is a saying you can’t beat God in giving and perhaps the greatest one is from the lips of Jesus himself: “And I tell you, everyone who acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man also will acknowledge before the angels of God…” Luke 12: 8 (ESV).

When God is pleased with someone he releases blessings on them. Still need to be convinced of God crediting accounts and rewarding our obedience? See what happens when you tithe in Malachi 3:10-12 and how he supplies all the hidden treasures we need in Colossians 2:2-3.
